This was the first un-official season of high school hockey, at the time it was call Midget/Juvenile. Practices and games were played outdoors at
Hubbard Park (28th & Jones). Close to 25 high school aged players would join the new youth hockey program

Gaining popularity, youth hockey in Sioux City required that the eligible age was again lowered to include Mite aged players (5-7).
Eight 5 year olds tip-toed on the ice that season and two of them, Duane Erickson (Metros Class of '87) and Brian Reynolds (Metros
Class of '87) became the first SYHA Players to go completely through the SYHA program.

The Metros participate for the first time in the annual Des Moines Invitational Tournament on January 18th & 19. Waterloo would
join the tournament as the third Iowa team as well as Albert lea & South St. Paul from Minnesota. They would make it to the final
game but lose to the hosts in a 7-6 barn-burner.

Did You Know...After playing for the University of Wisconsin/Stevens Point, Bobby Sutherland would return to Sioux City to
coach the very first High School JV team in 1982-83


Spring of '75 the groundwork for the Iowa High School Hockey League (IHSHL) begins and the first season commences that
November. The first IHSHL State Tournament held February 21st & 22nd in Ames IA.

With Sioux City's youth hockey program only four seasons old, and the State Tournament in its first year, the Jr. Musketeers would
make it to the championship game held it the Hilton Coliseum in Ames. 
They would defeat Des Moines Urbandale 7-6 in the first round and Des Moines Hoover-Roosevelt 7-4 in the second round. Despite
42 shots on goal, the Jr. Musketeers would lose by a single goal to the (Waterloo) Columbus Sailors 5-4.

 SYHA Pancake Day held an unusual for for the Jr. Musketeers. A college team from Emo, Ontario stopped by to take on the high
school players. While the Jr. Musketeers were behind most of the game, Brian & Mike Hartman and Kevin Berg scored third period
goals for a 6-4 victory.

 SYHA Proposes that the following season all players will be required to wear a helmets with attached facemask

The Auditorium gets it first Zamboni this year, forcing the snow shovels and the Black Knight carts into storage.
Facemasks become mandatory and early morning practices begin.

The Iowa High School League (IHSHL) opens play with 11 teams divided into two divisions.   The team is officially called the
Sioux City Metro Jr. Musketeers. But commonly called the Jr. Musketeers. State Tournament March 4th-6th in Ames, IA

On March 24th, the SYHA Year-End Banquet was held at the Marina Inn. IHSHL Leading Scorer Brian Hartman is presented
the award by IHSHL President and Iowa State Head Coach Al Murdock

Did You Know...this was the first of many seasons that the Siouxland Kiwanis Club would sponsor the High School & SYHA teams.


The season starts with ten teams playing a 12 game schedule. Des Moines Lincoln leaves the league. Ankeny moves to division II.  
State Tournament is March 8th-11th in Des Moines, IA

Division I: Sioux City, Waterloo Public & Columbus and  Des Moines Dowling, Valley, Roosevelt & Urbandale.
Division II:  Ames, Mason City and Ankeny

The Jr. Musketeers would finish the regular season with a  6-4-2 record and a third place regular season finish. After three
consecutive wins at the state tournament, the Jr. Musketeers would get a chance at redemption against the (Waterloo) Columbus
Sailors in the championship game.

This Jr. Musketeers team was loaded with future USHL'ers; Dave & Clayton Wiffen, Brian & Brent Hartman, Mike Bennett, Paul
Kambach, Pat Pinney & Dan Reynolds. They were the only team in the league that might be able to beat the powerful Sailors,
unfortunately they fell short in their second bid at a championship.

These Jr. Musketeer jerseys worn this season were handed down form the Musketeers by owner Gary Lipshutz. The round
Musketeer logo was removed and the jerseys worn sans any logo.

New Dasher Boards Glass arrives in Sioux City - gone is the chain-link fence that personified old-time hockey

The Iowa High School League (IHSHL) opens play with 10 teams divided into two divisions.  Teams play only their own division
for a regular season of 14 games. State Tournament March 7th-10th in Des Moines.

Division I: Sioux City, Waterloo Public & Columbus and  Des Moines Dowling, Valley, Roosevelt & Urbandale.
Division II:  Ames, Mason City and Ankeny.

The Metro Jr. Musketeers would open the season on November 25th with a game against the Des Moines Valley Tigers. Valley is
coached by former Musketeer player and SYHA coach Julian Nixon.

 After a 6th place league finish the Jr. Musketeers would miss a top three showing at the start tournament this season.

The Jr. Musketeers jerseys now sported a script style "Sioux City" on the front of both white and green jerseys.

The Metros would finish the regular season with a 7-11 record and a sixth place finish. Clayton Wiffen again would lead the Metros in
scoring again this season with 32 points.

With a roster packed with future USHL'ers; Dan Reynolds, Pat Pinney, Clayton Wiffen, Mike Bennett, Brian Hartman & Paul Kambach,
the Metros entered tournament play as one of the favorites. Unfortunately, a questionable goal in the second round de-railed their hopes
at a first State Championship and they would have to settle for third place.

This would be the last season of Jr. Musketeer name. It would be changed the next season to reflect the overall make-up the team's
player base.

Did You Know...After his senior year, Mike Bennett would spend the 80-81 season with the Musketeers.
 


The Metros would return to the state tournament with a considerably smaller and less experienced line-up. However, strong goaltending
 and a speedy offence made up for lack of physicality and the team held their own throughout the tournament. Unfortunately, a second
round loss would send them home again with a third place finish.

Note: Name change to Sioux City Metro. This was done to help hockey players gain creditability as true high school athletes and to
have hockey accepted as an official  high school sport. Just like today,  players are not limited to the Sioux City boarders and represent
the surrounding metro area.

A policy change at the Auditorium regarding local event tenants caused SYHA to explore new avenues for ice time. In the Summer
of '81 an  inflatable Bubble was purchased and would be the new hone of SYHA hockey events. It was relocated from Jackson,
Tennessee to Sioux City where it was constructed and completed before the start of the new season.

This SYHA hockey season would start at the Bubble. An air filled dome that was always 20 degrees colder than outside, it was the only
indoor building that often carried a wind-chill factor!!!  This would be the home of SYHA & the Metros for only one season. A storm
the following summer would destroy the bubble.

After a third place showing at the State Tournament last season, the Metros return with only three seniors and finish the season with a
dismal 2-14 record.

The Metros have 14 players returning this season, all who have seen a significant amount of ice time. However, they finish with a
disappointing 7-11 regular season record. They would grab a sixth place finish at the ten team state tournament.

They finished the season with only 4 wins and 15 losses - seven of which were by one goal. It could have been a different season had those
games gone the other way. Despite the losing season, the Metros would place five honorable mention players on the All-State team.

The JV team finished the season with a 10-3-1 record and entered the JV State Tournament as the odds on favorites. Unfortunately
JV teams stacked with varsity players handed the Metros a fourth place finish at the tournament.

The Varsity finishes the season in fourth place with a 9-7-2 record. Kelly Goosman scores 12 goals and Chris Swanson records 14 assists
on 16 regular season points. The Metros receives the regular season IHSHL Sportsmanship Award.

The Metros finished the tournament with a first round victory over Des Moines Valley/Dowling and a third round double overtime
thriller over the always powerful Waterloo Warriors. Sandwiched in between there, was a loss to the eventual State Champions
the Mason City Mohawks. Goaltender Scott Patrick is selected as the State Tournament Most Valuable Player.

The Metros made a nice showing at the JV tournament and in the round robin format took home second place with a loss the
Tournament Champs the Mason City Mohawks.

The Sioux City varsity grabs second place in the league with a 13-4-1 record. Todd Coyle and Ross Van Rooyan lead the Metros in
scoring with 32 and 30 points respectively. Four players make the All- Star games and three players are selected to the All- League team.

 The Metros would fall short in the tournament championship game. However, the program was starting to come together and a respect
around the league for Sioux City Hockey was starting to build.

At the time, nobody really notices, but an IHSHL high school dynasty is building, as the final two seasons of the 80's wind down!!!

Did You know...Goaltender Scott Patrick was selected three times, Sophomore, Junior & Senior, to the All State Team and his
freshman season an Honorable Mention to the same team.  He also received the league's Silver Glove Award presented to the top

This season has it's powerhouse as Valley/Dowling runs the table, however, only three points separate the next four teams in the league.
The Metros 11-9 record is good for fifth place regular season finish.
Shane Keith pours in some 40 points this season to lead the team in scoring. They place four players in the All-Star Game and  two on
the IHSHL All-State team.

Did You Know...Dale Frerichs would take over as the Metros Assistant coach for the start of the 2014-15 Midwest High
School Hockey League Season (Formerly the IHSHL)

 



Another trip to the Championship game and another second place finish. On paper, this team should have won!!! However, they
would return with almost the identical team the following season with different results.

The 90's would begin a run of Sioux City's dominance in the IHSH & MHSHL hockey leagues.
Starting in 88 & 90 with Championship runner-up trophies. The Metros return in both 1991 & 1992 with Championship wins. After a
Runner-up finish in 93, they again would win Champion status in 94. The Metro would go on to win two more championships in 98
& 99  and close-out the decade with a runner-up finish in 2000. They would again win the Championship in 2003.

The 1990's made for a Sioux City Championship streak that is by far tops in the IHSHL & MHSHL leagues. During those ten season the
Metros captured 2 Regular Season Championships & appeared in the State Championship game 8 times, winning the title five times.

 A victory over the Dubuque Devils would bring home Sioux City's first state Championship. This season would start mark officially the
beginning of 12+ seasons of dominance of the IHSHL by the Metros.

The Metros would make short work of Mason City (5-0), Des Moines (8-3) and  #1 seed Dubuque (8-1) to bring home Sioux City's
first ever IHSHL State Championship

The Metros win the regular season with a 19-5 record. Offence is the theme again, Jesse Monell and Daniel Davies both score over
60 points and Jesper Kilander over 50. The Metros place five players in the All-Star Game, three All-State selections and four players

The Metros would place four players, Dan Davies, Jesse Monell, Jade Pospeshil & Jesse Basarich, in the Chicago Showcase
tournament as well as Metros head coach Dave Davies.

The Metros slip a bit this season and finish fourth in the west with a 14-10 record. Daniel Davies would lead the scoring with
42 points while five other Metros scored 25 plus points. They would place three players in the All-Star Game and four on the All-State
Team and three in the Chicago Showcase.

By the time the championship game rolled around there wasn't a person in the house that didn't think the Metros wouldn't win their third
championship. They were so sure they placed commemorative three-peat patches on their jerseys BEFORE the game. Des Moines
Valley/Dowling didn't like the idea and beat the Metros 3-1. Note to self: Don't count chickens before they hatch

Also notable is the transition of coaches, Dave Davies would step down this season. Assistant Coach and another former Musketeer
Jimmy Peck would take the reins. His similar coaching philosophy would insure the continued dominance of Metros hockey.

The Metros are back to their old selves with a league winning 18-6 record. Exchange students Sami Heino and Mikael Sundelin lead
the way in scoring both with 51 points and five other players finish with 23 plus points. They place four players in the All-Star Game, seven
on the All-State Team and three in the Chicago Showcase. Sundelin and Heino are named the Tournament's Co-Most Valuable Players.

This would mark Sioux City's third State Championship in four seasons.

However, the Omaha Lancers own the league this season and finish undefeated securing both League and State Championships.

This season marks the 25th season of SYHA/Metro Hockey in Sioux City and the 20th Anniversary of the Iowa High School Hockey League

The Metros finish with a 16-10 record good enough for third in the west. This is the second of a three season break for the Metros
as they rebuild their program that would eventually win three more state Championships, a second place and a third place in the
next seven seasons. Trent Mozak and Mike Stoneburg lead the team in scoring with 34 and 33 points and in penalties with
70 & 62 minutes. They place five players in the All-Star game, five on the All-State Team & three more in the Chicago Showcase.

The Metros finish the season with a disappointing 15-11 season and a third place finish in the west division. However, they still
would have seven players with All-Star selections, the most of any team in the league. They would muster a third place finish at
the State Tournament. Matt Andrews leads the team in regular season scoring with 24 points. They place seven players in the All-Star
Game, six on the All-State team and four in the Chicago Showcase.

At the time, this middle of the pack finish during the regular season & a third place showing at State is just that...however
as the big picture develops, it is a Sioux City program hearting up to begin the second part in what would become a
twelve season IHSHL High School dynasty

The Metros would continue their 12 season domination of the IHSHL with a fourth state championship in eight seasons. With a roster
combination of big, fast and smart, the Metros would get Sioux City back on the Championship winning track.

Sioux City manages a second place finish in the west with a 18-8 record and a fourth place finish overall the 10 team league.
Kyle Worner leads the Metros and the League in scoring with 47 points. Twelve other Metros score over 10 points.
They have five players (Nick Mills, Willie Persinger, Worner, Creston Jensen, Jake Hinderman) earn All-Star honors. Four
players (Jensen,  Mills, Persinger, Worner) and head coach Walt Johnson in the Chicago Showcase.
 
The Metros would defeat the Omaha Lancers and bring home a fourth State Championship in eight seasons.  Greg Gill and Jake Hinderman
share the Tournament MVP awards

Sioux City Metros Jr. Varsity

The Junior Varsity would win the regular season championship this season, setting the table for two unprecedented championship
weekends next March in Sioux City and St. Joe

The JV team tops the league with a 20-2-4 record and records the JV's first League championship. They place five scorers (Matt
Tonjum, Dusty Browning, Brant Mozak, Dustin White and Robbie Lessard) among the top ten league scorers.

JV State Tournament held February 26th-March 1st in St. Joe, MS

SYHA would start off the season in their own building. The 2.5 million dollar IBP Ice Center opened for youth and high school
practices. The new facility featured a NHL sized playing surface, four locker-rooms, coaches & referee rooms, pro shop and a
concession and large lobby area. The new building allowed SYHA to again begin to promote the program. For a number of years
no new players were allowed to join due to the limited practice and game times.
 

Did You Know...the orange seats currently in the IBP Ice Center were from the Auditorium.  Originally, the removable seats, "C" section,
These were the seats that folded in-out in front of the Balcony section.

The Metros would finish the season second place in the west and tied for fourth in the 12 team league. Offence was the theme as the
Metros poured in 163 goals in just 20 regular season games. For the second time, Kyle Worner would lead the Metros in scoring while nine
other players would tally 20 plus points. Kyle Worner is a top ten league scorer as is Jake Hinderman as top ten league goaltender.

The Metros would continue their winning way and capture another IHSHL Championship, their fifth in nine seasons.
The Metros would start out the tournament with a convincing 6-1 win over the Waterloo Warriors.  Like the JV team the week before,
they found themselves paired up with the top seeded Des Moines Capitols. However, the Metros would come from behind to win in 
an exciting 7-6 victory. The championship game took extra periods but the Metros defeated the Kansas City Jr. Blades 3-2
Kyle Worner scored two Metro goals and added an assist to Trent Mozak's game winner in the second overtime.

Landon Blatchford

Landon Blatchford is the first of two SYHA/Metro players to both win IHSHL / MHSHL championships as both a player and coach.
He would play four seasons with the Metros making an appearance in the tournament championship game all four seasons. The Metros
would win back-to-back Championships in '91 & '92. After high school, Landon joined the Metros coaching staff and in '98 & '99 helped
the Metros to another pair of tournament championships. In '99 he also lead the Junior Varsity to their second ever State Championship.

This would be Kyle Worner's second appearance in the Showcase. Robbie Lessard would also become a two-time Showcase player

 JV would finish second in the west division and third overall with a 14-3-3 record. Brant Mozak and Ben Deck would top the league
in scoring with 61 and 55 regular season points. Goalies Ryan Dohrmann and Ross Patrick would finish among the top ten
 goaltenders in the League

 The JV team took to the friendly home ice of the IBP Ice Center to take on the beat the Mason City Mohawks 5-0. The second round
brought on the undefeated (25-0-0) #1 seeded Des Moines Capitols. The underdogs would prevail in a 3-1  victory over the Caps and
advance to the championship game. There they would hand Kansas City a 2-1 loss for a Metros JV State Championship

The Metros would finish the season with a 14-7-1 record, tied with the Omaha Jr. Lancers for second place in the west division. They
would place two players (Ben Deck and Robbie Lessard) among the league's top 10 scorers. Goaltender Ryan Dohrmann leads all other
league goaltenders with a .935 save percentage and three shut-outs.

They would place five players on the IHSHL All-Star Team as well as head Coach Walt Johnson. Four players would make All-State
Team as would four players make the Chicago Showcase team.

In their second chance in the same decade, the Metros have a chance at a State Championship Three-pete, however they would
come up short in a 3-0 loss the the Des Moines Capitols.

The Metros finish third in the west with a 16-11-1 record. The would lead the league in penalties with 644 minutes. Ben Deck would lead
the league in scoring with 48 points and Ryan Dohrmann finish as the league's third best goalie. Four players would make the All-Star
Team and four players the Chicago Showcase.

a unanimous selection to the All-State Team.

The Metros would start out the tournament with an upset over the Des Moines Oak Leafs but fall short to second seed Mason
City and eventual tournament champions, the Omaha Lancers.

Sioux City would finish the regular season in the middle of the pack. However, when tournament time arrived they were at their peak.
They would score 10 goals to beat Waterloo and 6 to beat the Capitols. The championship game is when the excitement would begin,
it took three overtime periods before sophomore Kevin Lohry scored the game winner.

 Kevin Lohry would finish among the top ten scorers in the league and Beau Erickson as the second best goaltender in the league.
Four Metros players would make the All-Star team and three the Chicago Showcase. Beau Erickson would take All-League
Team honors between the pipes. Kevin Lohry would be selected as the State Tournament's Most Valuable Player.

Sioux City's IHSHL All-Stars game participants were seniors Sammy Schweigert and Aaron Limoges and juniors Alex Lukehart
and goaltender Beau Erickson. Sammy would be a Metro high scorer for two seasons. Aaron was a two time Metros Heavy Hitter
and the recipient of the Metros Dustin White Award. Alex would be a Metro High Scorer for two seasons and earn a  second
selection to the All-Star Team next year. Beau would also make a second showing on the All-Star Team as well as twice on the
Chicago Showcase and the IHSHL All-League Teams.

 


The Metros compile a 20-8-1 record for a fourth place finish. Only 10 points separate the top five teams in the league this season. Kevin
Lohry and Alex Lukehart show among the top ten scorers in the league. Goaltender Beau Erickson would make a habit of being the second
best goaltender in the league. Five players earn All-Star game awards, four All-State awards and Lohry and Erickson make the All-
League Team.

With a victory over Ames sandwiched between a pair of losses at the State Tournament, the Metros would finish in 6th place.

The Metros boasted five players on this years All-Star Team, the most of any team. This would be Kevin Lohry's first of two All-Star
All-State and Chicago Showcase Team selections. This would be Beau Erickson's second All-Star game as well as his second All-State
honors and Chicago Showcase selection. Alex Lukehart would also be making his second trip to the All-Star game. Scott Marsh and
 Brett Swanson would be making their first trips the the All-Star Game.

Did You Know...The West All-Stars would go on to beat the East All-Stars 8-1

Did You know...Alex Lukehart would be one of the few players to receive the IHSHL President's Senior Academic Award.
This is presented to Seniors who maintain a 3.5 GPA or greater throughout their high school years.

 


The Metros have another middle of the road regular season with a 16-11-1 record for a fifth place finish in the league. They place four
players in the All-Star game with Kevin Lohry & Kyle Bennett also making the All-Star team, All-League team and the Chicago Showcase

For the first time the Metros fail to make the State Tournament. Their 14-17 record is still five points short of the eighth and final tournament
birth. John Adam make the All-Star Game as Andrew Bauer and Marshall Tuttle make the All-Star game a second time. Both will play in the
Chicago Showcase also.

The Metros struggle this season and finish the varsity campaign with a 12-15 record and a final point total of 25 for the season. They
do still place three players in the MHSHL All-Star Game including two-time all star selection Brandon Carlson. As well as a fourth
Metro player (Josh Stoos) in the Chicago Showcase.

The JV shows some signs of a positive future and finish the season with a 19-6-3 record for a second place finish in the west division.
They place a pair of  players (Keegan Lyon and Skyler Beller) among the top ten scorers in the league.

With only two returning seniors, the Metros did still better their total wins and ended the season with an 11-14-2-1 record. They would grab the
seventh seed in the League tournament but bow out with losses to the DM and Mason City.

Leading scorer Skyler Beller would receive All-Star designation and be selected to play for Team Midwest in the America's Hockey Showcase
Tournament in Pittsburgh, PA. Metros second leading scorer Tanner Frerichs would also be honored as a MHSHL Team
West leading forward.  Beller and Frerichs both place among the top five scorers in the league with 44 regular season points.

The Metros JV squad finishes the season with a 14-14 record and a trip the League tournament. A first round win over favorite Dubuque made for
the start of a hopeful weekend, but losses to Kansas City and Des Moines left the Metros with a 6th place finish.

The Metros start the season with a win over the Oak Leafs and a very close contest the next week with the league leading and eventually
undefeated Des Moines Capitols, however, the Metros have a tough time maintaining the momentum and finished the season
with a 14-12-1-1- record, a third place finish in the west and a 6th place finish overall.

That sixth place finish does qualify them for the League Tournament where the Metros defeat Dubuque in the first round but fall to the eventual
champions Kansas City. In the Consolation game they would defeat a heavily favored Des Moines Oak Leafs in a shoot-out for Sioux City's
first showing in the League tournament in fourteen years. Skyler Beller scores a goal and and James Page two more in regulation and
Connor Sands shoot-out goal wins it for the Metros.  

Skyler Beller joins former Metros players Brian Hartman (74-78) Clayton Wiffen (78-81) and Kevin Lohry (02-05) as the only
four Jr. Musketeers/Metro players to lead the team in scoring for three consecutive seasons. (Brian Hartman did it four times)

 Many people think this could be the Metros year for success in the League Tournament. Returning high scorers Tanner Frerichs,
James Page, Chase Lewison, Sam Chadwick & Drake Beller all can put points in the board; a top defensive corps with Jerett Heyl,
Logan Visser & Grant Newman and solid goaltending in Carter Manthorne & Blake Beller make a terrific combination for
 tournament high hopes.

The Metros start the season looking like one of the teams to beat this season winning ten of their first eleven games of the season. They would
 take three heat breaking losses to teams they should have beat, but still win a majority of the remaining games; finishing in fourth place
 with a 19-7-2 regular season record.

 Earning the fourth seed in the tournament the Metros would defeat the Des Moines Oak Leafs in the first round. Connor Sand's two empty
net goals iced a game that was much closer that the final score showed. They would draw the Des Moines Capitols in the second round;
stunning everyone in attendance and handing the Caps just their second regulation loss of the season when James Page scored with 49
seconds remaining in the game. Sioux City entered the championship with high expectations taking on the Waterloo Warriors. However,
a successful penalty shot with a 1:16 remaining ended the Metros run for a Tournament  Championship.

The Metros return this season with a mission on their mind. Blasting through the regular season the Metros only lose three games. Capturing their
 first regular season championship in twenty-five seasons. Drake Beller and James Page lead both the Metros in scoring as well as the Midwest
 League. Blake Beller plays every minute this season, recording a Metros record setting 1.49 goals against average. Sioux City dominates the
 MHSHL All- League team placing four of the six players selected; Drake Beller, James Page, Grant Newman and Blake Beller.

Blake Beller dominates the league finishing with several league records including most wins, most shut out and highest goals against average.
 Drake Beller makes a run at the Metros all-time scoring record but falls a single point short. He does set a new Metros record recording
 43 regular season assists.
 

The Metros head to the post season tournament as an expected favorites but  with that comes pressure and resistance from the
competing teams.  The Metros would draw a rematch of last season's championship game with the Waterloo Warriors. This one
stayed tied through two overtimes but Sioux City would extract their revenge in this 2-1 win. Game two is also a rematch of the
league's top team last season the Des Moines Capitols. The Metros shocked the tournament favorites last season and they did
it again this season winning on a double overtime Walt Werden goal sending the Metros to the finals. The Metros would match-
up against the Mason city Mohawks and while the game stayed close of into the third, Sioux City would break it open and
defeat the 'Hawks 4-3 winning their first Championship since 2003.

 The Metros would be selected to represent the State of Iowa and the MHSHL at the USA Hockey National Championships.
Over the five day-six game tournament the Metros shocked team from all over the country beating state championship teams
 Ohio, Texas, Colorado, Montana and Florida.

The Metros start the season and are again expected to be one of the top teams in the League. Reece McDonald,
Taylor Frerichs, Max Beller will provide the firepower and goaltender Blake Beller will protect the net. As the season
progressed, it looked to be a battle between Waterloo and Sioux City for the regular season championship.

The two teams meet in December with each grabbing a win, further building the anticipation of another meeting during
the final tournament. However, Waterloo looks unstoppable for the remainder of the season and the Metros lose a pair
of  heartbreakers to Freemont & Kansas City and leave three overtime losses on the table; nixing their chances at a
repeat regular season championship.

The Metros are up-et in the second round of the tournament. After soundly defeating the Lincoln Stars in the first round, the
Metros are up-set by the Cedar Rapids Rough Riders. hey do rebound the following day beating the Omaha Jr. Lancers and
 grabbing a disappointing third place finish.

Seniors Max Beller and Reece McDonald are selected to play for Team Midwest at the 2018 Silver Stick Regional
Tournament held in Colorado. Team Midwest dominates the division; winning the tournament and advancing to the
International Silver Stick tournament later this season. Team Midwest  returns in January to the International Tournament
where they are again one of the dominate teams. Working through the round robin; Team Midwest advances to the
Championship game falling short to Halton Hills of Ontario, Canada
